Brazilian wonderkid Gabriel Jesus has told teammates he expects to sign for Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola a huge factor in the Etihad club securing his signature.
Barcelona,
Real Madrid, Manchester United and most of Europe's elite have talked
to Palmeiras or the player's entourage about signing South America's
brightest young talent.
The 19-year-old has been dubbed 'the new
Neymar' and Barca sporting director Robert Fernandez flew into São Paulo
this week to try and convince him to sign for the Spanish champions
alongside the Brazil captain to whom he would be heir.
But City's offer, revealed 10 days ago by Mirror Sport,
is the biggest proposal on the table and sources close to the forward
have claimed he wouldn't have considered signing for the Etihad club had
it not been for Guardiola's presence.
The Catalan coach has been part of Man City's
long-term plan since the arrival of Abu Dhabi investment and the
opportunity to work under him has seduced several players to sign for
the club over Champions League rivals this summer.
A deal is not yet finalised to bring the teen superstar to the
Premier League but is expected to be completed without problem by
sources both at the Brazilian end and those in Manchester.
It
would represent a coup in both footballing and commercial terms for
City, and is an example of the progress being made in South America by
the club's growing team on the continent.

Former Barcelona scout Joan Patsy leads a team of full-time and more
casual scouts from Patagonia to Panama, and their presence in Colombia
has recently contributed to them securing a deal for Marlos Moreno, a
teen forward that could be the future of Colombian football.
City also have worked with Uruguay's Deportivo Maldonado to secure the signing of goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, who is widely expected to become Argentina's No.1 by the next World Cup after impressing on loan at Real Sociedad.
