Barcelona,
Real Madrid, Manchester United and most of Europe's elite have talked
to Palmeiras or the player's entourage about signing South America's
brightest young talent.
The 19-year-old has been dubbed 'the new
Neymar' and Barca sporting director Robert Fernandez flew into São Paulo
this week to try and convince him to sign for the Spanish champions
alongside the Brazil captain to whom he would be heir.
But City's offer, revealed 10 days ago by Mirror Sport,
is the biggest proposal on the table and sources close to the forward
have claimed he wouldn't have considered signing for the Etihad club had
it not been for Guardiola's presence.
The Catalan coach has been part of Man City's
long-term plan since the arrival of Abu Dhabi investment and the
opportunity to work under him has seduced several players to sign for
the club over Champions League rivals this summer.
A deal is not yet finalised to bring the teen superstar to the
Premier League but is expected to be completed without problem by
sources both at the Brazilian end and those in Manchester.
It
would represent a coup in both footballing and commercial terms for
City, and is an example of the progress being made in South America by
the club's growing team on the continent.
